The NAPU team begins by discussing why cargo gameplay is crucial to Star Citizen. Cargo handling adds layers of interactivity and player engagement beyond FPS combat, enabling diverse activities such as trading, dealing with pirates, and hiring protection, which fosters a dynamic in-game economy.

Moving Away from Instantaneous Cargo

Automated Cargo Loading

While manual loading is a core focus, automated cargo loading will still be available for those who prefer faster, less hands-on cargo transfers. However, automated services will come at a cost and take longer to complete compared to manual loading.

Unique Item Recovery

A long-requested feature, unique item recovery will allow players to retrieve lost items after missions, crashes, or deaths. This system will be tied to “lost and found” stations in personal HABs, where players can recover important items such as subscriber gear or mission-critical equipment.
